Introduction to the class for art

Hello all my name is Rhett Jaquish and I am coming to you from southern Wisconsin about 25miles north of Madison.  I am currently enrolled in the Biology program here.  I am also working full time as a park and recreation specialist for the department of natural resources here in Wisconsin.  I am a lifelong farmer and still live on the family farm today.  We just graze cattle now since we sold the cattle a couple of years ago.  When it come to art I don't consider myself an artist.  The only thing close to art I enjoy is building things mainly from wood.

My boys like tractor videos.

  1. I enjoyed Madison, Wisconsin. I have been there several times. We used to have farmer friends near the Dells. Unfortunately, they both recently passed.

  2. Hi Rhett! I am visiting my brother and his family in Lakeville, Minnesota, for the weekend, not too far from Wisconsin! My husband also enjoys woodworking as a hobby; he's built a few pieces of furniture for our home. My twelve-year-old daughter is very artistic; though I am still not very creative, she cons me into trying new projects with her that I enjoy! We recently tried abstract art; the picture on my blog is my creation! I like the video you shared about the tractors and the artwork of the children playing by the river; they gave me a sense of things you enjoy.

  3. Hey Rhett! I'm also from Wisconsin, so it's cool to see another Wisconsinite in this class (I'm from a ways up north, but my sister lives down in Lodi. I also went to UW for a year). I also fully understand the allure of tractor videos. I grew up on my family's dairy farm, so that runs through my blood just like it does yours.

  4. Hello from a fellow Midwesterner! All my extended family is in Iowa. I'm somewhat familiar with farming after spending my summers there while growing up, but the growing season in Alaska is so very different. Woodworking is an amazing craft, and carpentry is always an impressive feat!
